A very unusual Coalport ovoid bulb pot and pierced cover, circa 1805

Enamelled in puce monochrome with a classical figure of a woman and attendant putto within an oval cartouche, surrounded by flowers and trailing foliage, against a gilt dot and sprig surround.

Perhaps decorated in the Thomas Baxter studio.

Height:  12.5cm

No mark

Condition:  the pot has a long crack from rim to near the base; the cover inside rim has had a chip restuck, has two further inner chips, and there is a little gilt rub to the outer rims.
