A Coalport ecuelle, cover and stand, circa 1805

Painted in the studio of Thomas Baxter with reserves of colourful butterflies, with a red and gold striped ground, all within elaborate gilded borders.

Height of ecuelle to top of cover 12.2 cm, diameter of stand 15.2 cm

Mark:  Probably a decorator’s mark to interior of cover

Condition:  approx. 5 cm hairline to cup, extending from rim to near the base, 1 cm chip to inner rim of cover, some wear to gilt rim and well of stand, very slight wear to tips of handles.
