A Flight and Barr Worcester tapered coffee can and saucer, circa 1795
Both pieces finely painted by John Pennington in sepia monochrome of two of the virtues, the can with a figure of a maiden holding a rabbit, her feet winged, representing ‘Timidity’, and the saucer with a maiden seated on rocks and holding a ship, representing ‘Confidence’.
Height of can: 7.5 cm; Diameter of saucer 13.8 cm
Marks: The saucer with title ‘CONFIDENCE’ and marked ‘Flight & Barr, Worcester, Manufacturers to their MAJESTIES’ to the base; the cup with title ‘TIMIDITY’ and script mark Flight & Barr, Wor.
Condition: Very good
