The interior decorated in tones of yellow, green and brown, with a round tower flying a flag beside an obelisk and tall tree, probably painted by the ‘Castle Painter’. The exterior moulded leaves are edged in green, with puce coloured veins.

Condition: The smaller side of the twig handle has been broken at either end and cleanly stuck back. There is a 2.5 cm vertical hairline just to the right of the handle, just visible on the interior.
Note: Variations in style suggest that more than one artist was responsible for decorating at Longton Hall, although John Hayfield is often said to be the ‘Castle Painter’, the only named painter in the factory records.
