A square dessert dish, bearing the arms of John Gunning of the medical staff, who served as Deputy Inspector of the 1st Corps. at the Battle of Waterloo under the command of the Duke of Wellington. He died in Paris in 1863, aged 89.
In addition to his coat of arms, it shows also the Wellington Waterloo medal with the Battle of Waterloo date, June 18th 1815. It has a moulded floral embossed border and hand painted flowers.
Condition: very good, no chips, cracks or restoration
