A rare Coalport ‘Animal Service’ coffee can and saucer, circa 1805 (7)

The can painted with ‘The comforter’ and the saucer with ‘The Turnspit’, titled in red to the bases.

Dimensions:  can 6cm high, saucer 14cm diameter

Condition: small Y-shaped mark to rim in centre of scene, with what appears to be a small stained crack (visible in image) although there is no sign of damage on the inside of the can.  The can has staining to the top rim, some glaze craze. 1.5 cm hairline to rim (only visible under UV light) and some wear to the gilt surround of the centre scene in saucer.
