Longton Hall pickles are rare and this green decoration is more commonly seen on Bow pickles. These pickles seem to have been produced in small quantities, mostly in the middle period of factory production. Similarly moulded examples painted with a central spray of flowers in colours by the Trembly Rose painter are known.
Condition: Small rim chip with associated 3 cm crack and several small chips to serrated edge.
For a pickle of this shape, but painted in coloured enamels in the style of the ‘Trembly Rose’ painter, see Bonhams, Fine British Porcelain and Pottery, 13 Sept 2006, lot 102
