A rare Spode porcelain butter boat, circa 1820

The handle and rim gilt, the inside painted with a band of cornflowers and leaves in blue and green.

Length:  8cm

No mark

Condition:  A small firing flaw in manufacture to inside of lip and to inside of butter boat close to handle.

Note:  Pearlware butter boats of the same shape and handle marked SPODE are recorded, but porcelain examples are rare.
