A rare Vauxhall figure of a gardener, circa 1758

Painted with a pink coat, blue apron and black breeches, the scroll base picked out in puce.

Condition: old restoration to right hand where watering can is missing, chips to hat and to plant in pot, large firing crack to a rather uneven base.

This figure and his companion were once thought to be Longton Hall, see Bernard Watney, Longton Hall Porcelain, pls. 55B and C, where he illustrates a pair.
