A very rare Bow plate, circa 1764

The plate with border moulding of Mecklenburg Strelitz type, painted with colourful fruit and flowers including plums and cherries, within a border of flower bouquets alternating with turquoise ground panels of fancy butterflies and moths, the reverse with three large green leaves to the rim.

Condition:  A number of small chips to the gilt rim which have been touched in with paint.

Previously with Albert Amor, their label to base.

The Mecklenburg Strelitz Service was made at Chelsea in 1763. The shape of this Bow example matches the earlier Chelsea form.  A Bow example without the turquoise ground to the insect panels was exhibited by Albert Amor in the Golden Jubilee Exhibition, June 2002, catalogue number 41.
